About - Badlands Software LLC

Howdy! Welcome to Badlands Software!

My name is Jason, I am a software developer here in Billings, MT. At my day job I lead teams of developers designing and implementing .NET applications for a medium sized ERP system. My technical interests are C# code generation, the Roslyn compiler, WPF, and security infrastructure; at a process level I am obsessed with applying engineering principles to software development; modeling software development processes using project planning best practices, including critical path analysis, reasonable scheduling, and accurate forecasting.

Badlands Software is my side hobby where I tinker with Web\Cloud solutions to solve real world business problems for friends and family in my spare time applying my enterprise background while learning new technologies. My goal is to create high quality solutions to improve people's lives by automating repetitive tasks by using my gifts for the good of others.

Our Story

My wife and I grew up on ranches in eastern Montana, we attended MSU-Bozeman where I earned my degree in Computer Science. After graduating we lived in Denver for a few years then returned "home" as soon as the opportunity presented itself. In total I have been working for software development companies for ~15 years writing enterprise software for the entirety of that time.

The Cloud is a monumental leap forward in how computing can improve people's lives. No longer is it a requirement to own an expensive server or pay significant licensing fees to develop or purchase a custom software solution. The Cloud affordably powers solutions via a usage-based subscription model that can be accessed anywhere via the Web. Cloud providers continue to develop and provide new Artificial Intelligence solutions that can be leveraged to solve real world problems at low cost. My goal is to bring the power of the Cloud to the Big Sky.

I love learning and helping people out, Badlands Software is my outlet that allows me to do both and help send my kids to college :)
